Hiking on the Niesen

A few weeks ago we went hiking up the Niesen. We left home early in the morning and I thought for sure Moses would take his nap in the backpack- although I'm not really sure why I thought that, Moses is officially the world's worst sleeper. Anyways he didn't. He whined and cried for an hour before we took him out and he finally fell asleep in my arms (after much weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth). Notice his death grip on my braid.  He woke up 5 minutes later when we tried to put him back in the carrier and then whined and cried for about an hour more. Super fun.
But it was beautiful. I'm pretty sure you can't go on an "ugly" hike in Switzerland. The trail was very steep. Poor Andreas' back was killing him by the time we got to the top because he was lugging around our giant child.
My hiking boots bit the dust (one after the other) right as we reached the summit. I guess it could have been worse. I'm not that brokenhearted about it. These were Andreas' old boots from high school and they were really quite ugly. My new fancy boots I'd given to my sister-in-law because my feet grew even bigger while I was pregnant. I got fancy pretty new boots last Saturday though so I'm happy.
They had a whole playground with cool play structures at the top. Moses was in heaven.
The view from the summit down to the Lake of Thun.
Moses throwing a tantrum when it was time to go home. Yes, he'd skipped his nap but really, this is a common occurrence is our house these days.

I envy you the fun hikes. Why not get a leash for Moses and let him hike - maybe it would wear him out so he'd sleep!!
