Last month we ended up in the ER with Mosey. He was wheezing like nobody's business after eating an apple and then going on a bike ride. I thought he'd aspirated some of the apple and was worried after putting him to bed. So off to the ER we went. We walked there by the way. You could see our neighborhood from his room.
*** So so sad and angry about the IV. Also, I got about an hour and a half of sleep that night. Not looking my best.*** We were in the ER for ages. They were debating whether he aspirated something or had bronchitis. About midnight they told us we were staying the night. Moses was still awake by the way. The child does not go to sleep unless I force him to. Plus they hadn't let him eat for 5 hours by that point so he was one grumpy baby. When I told the doctors that there was no way he'd go to sleep without breastfeeding (that and its cruel to not let a 17 month old baby eat or drink for so long) they relented and let me feed him, just once. After I finally got him to sleep I begged the nurse not to wake him up because I knew there was no way he'd sleep again.
I woke up to him sobbing at 5 am after the nurse woke him up.
So he sobbed for hours before the doctors did their rounds. Luckily through all the sobbing he started coughing and coughed up some carrot (he'd had the carrot after he started wheezing). They decided they should still look around in his lungs to make sure the apple wasn't still there (I didn't see it come up with the carrot). Luckily there was nothing there when they did the procedure. He must of coughed it all up but swallowed the apple bits before I noticed something in his mouth.
He slept for hours after the ordeal (and after they finally let him eat and drink again). I stayed awake. I made the nurse go away every time she came to do something. I know, I'm that mother. But he was so stressed and he needed to sleep.
Moses was rolling around on the floor because he was SO excited to go home (can't you tell?)
