Vigelandsparken

One of the perks of my job is the abundance of paid holidays. I get not only US but local holidays off as well. Friday was Norwegian Labor Day. I spent the better part of the morning biking around town.  Just up the street from my house is Vigelandsparken with its famous statutes.
I have to say I was impressed.
This Mother and Child was my favorite.
The sheer volume of statutes was also impressive. The circle of men is even further up the hill.
And a bust of Lincoln presented to Norway by the people of North Dakota in 1914?

my fave statue there was of a toddler boy having a tantrum.

he was the artist's son - and i guess there was a lot of family strife - i can't remember the exact details - but i thought it so cool that a whole park was dedicated to him.

Eliza can I just tell you how much I love the fact that we have the same sense of humor? You and Hannah are about the only ones who ever think I'm funny.

I just really couldn't get over how funny it was that lincoln's bust was there just thrown on in.
