...The Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear

So we started Moses on solids at 4 months with the traditional rice cereal and pureed fruit and veg. It went well. A little too well in fact. He lost all interest in milk. Not good. So we stopped.

We started again about 3 weeks ago but decided to go a whole different route. My sister-in-law Amy told me about Baby Led Weaning, I checked the book out from the library and was quickly a fan. Its all about just giving the baby food and letting them go to town. You don't have to worry about pureeing things, spoon feeding, chopping up food super small. You just cut the food into sticks that the kid can hold himself, put the food in front of him and then get out of the way. Moses is in heaven. I think strawberries are his favorite so far but he devoured some string beans earlier this evening so who knows. Feeding Moses is a consent source of entertainment for me every day. Watching him discover new tastes and seeing his facial expressions....priceless.

So enjoy my "Big Hungry Bear" enjoying his "Red Ripe Strawberry".

I'm all about the baby-led weaning. Did it with Theo and Ida. Love it!!

Some people say it is more work because they get so messy. However, I think it is worth the clean-up, plus you don't have to sit and spoon-feed them. I especially appreciated that when I had two. I have a feeling Lars isn't going to get to eat solids for a while. I am already feeling extra lazy thinking of the cleanup and the laundry...but it is so fun to see them learn new things.
