The downside of self assembly furniture

So my new apartment is missing key furniture items (couch, tables, lamps etc). For the last month or so I've been surviving with a bed and four folding chairs. However, doing homework in bed just meant taking more naps and it seemed like purchasing a table was in order. I found a fairly inexpensive table today. However, it required assembly. "No problem" I thought. I'm a handy girl. After all, my dad is a builder, its gotta be in my blood. How hard can it be?

Well let me tell you, harder than it looks.  Apparently its not genetic. I decided that I just don't have the brute force needed to hand screw wooden pieces of a table together. On monday a trip to Home Depot is definitely in order and I'm buying a power drill.

Seriously, you can never have too many tools......

Maybe Matt would do it for you.

Or maybe Eliza is handy.

I'm certainly not.

But love those power drills!

I remember the first bookshelf I put together after we got married--sans drill.

Everyone should own a power drill.

If you are going to the HD I would have to reccomend the Ryobi 18 Volt cordless with the Plastic storage case. Best bang for the buck!

It is definitely in your blood if you realize that every project means buying more tools.

On a side note I lived at hannah's house for the summer sans furniture ... i would have killed for a chair.

You will do a great job. I am sure that Dad wishes that he were there to help you.

first of all jacob - my aparment had furniture - it was just all in my bedroom. You have to admit, a few months of sitting on the floor and you get used to it.

As to hester's post - I understand what you mean about self assembly...that's why i don't have a lot of furniture.
